Opened in 2015 and designed by a local golf course architect, Dara Sakor Resort is Cambodia’s first casino complex with an adjoining golf course. Not content with one 18-hole golf course, the resort built two. Choose from the Ocean Course, or the Mountain Course. Alternatively, play both to get the full experience! Dara Sakor Golf Resort is located 100 kilometers south of the capital, Phnom Penh. The two courses differentiate themselves in a number of ways. The Ocean Course offers stunning views across the Gulf of Thailand from most holes as well as floodlights to accommodate those wanting to finish a round after dark. Most importantly, the course benefits from cooling breezes throughout the day.
The Ocean Course has its own clubhouse, practice area and driving range. Just a short drive away, the Mountain Course sits among a backdrop of centuries old jungle with spectacular views of the surrounding area from the back nine holes. On this course, driving accuracy will reward over distance. The 10th hole offers elevated tee boxes, as well as panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand. This is the hole to get your selfie stick out! The clubhouse is modest but adequate. Facilities include a driving range and practice area.
Dara Sakor Golf Resort Description: (modern layout with Sea and Mountain Courses)
The Dara Sakor Golf Club is Cambodia’s first international casino complex with an associated golf club comprised of 54 holes; an 18-hole Ocean Course, an 18-hole Mountain Course, and an 18-hole Links Course.
Dara Sakor Golf Resort lies 200 kilometers down the coast from and east of the major southern Cambodian city Sihanoukville and Koh Kong province. It is a two and one half hour drive from the Sihanoukville International Airport. Phnom Penh is 100 kilometers to the north.
The 18-hole Ocean Course uses Seashore Paspalum turf and makes use of floodlights for night golf. The Ocean Course features stunning views over the Gulf of Thailand from most of the holes. Refreshing breezes are ever-present through the day. Extensive landscaping, bunkering, water hazards and undulating greens provide all levels of golfer with a sufficient challenge to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
The Ocean Course club has a large modern clubhouse, chip and put practice areas, as well as a regulation driving range.
The Mountain Course is a short drive away from the Ocean Course. Carved out of centuries-old jungle hardwoods, driving accuracy is favored over distance. Water comes into play only on the front nine. The par-3 4th plays 175-yards and is all carry over the water. Short tee shots will not make it. Long and the rear bunkers over the green come into play. Correct club selection and accuracy are the keys to par here.
The best views on the Mountain Course are from the back nine. The 10th hole features an elevated tee box where scenes of the course, surrounding forest, and the Gulf of Thailand make for great panoramic photos. The par-4 hole plays downhill to a well-protected green.
The Mountain Course’s clubhouse is small but adequate. There is a dedicated driving range and practice areas too.
